Step-by-Step Instructions
1
Measure & Cut Fabric
Cut one front panel (18x18 inches) and two back panels (18x13 inches each) to allow for a 4-inch envelope overlap.
Tip: Iron fabric thoroughly before cutting to ensure exact right-angle edges.
2
Hem Back Panel Edges
Fold one long edge of each back panel over by 0.5 inch twice, press with an iron, and stitch a clean double hem.
Tip: Backstitch at both ends for long-lasting durability.
3
Pin Right Sides Together & Stitch
Lay front panel face up. Lay overlapping back panels face down on top. Pin all outer edges securely and sew with a 0.5-inch seam allowance.
Tip: Trim corner seam allowances at 45 degrees before turning inside out for sharp corners.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Forgetting to backstitch at hem edges leads to unraveling when washing.
- Not trimming corners leads to bulky rounded pillow edges.
